Ibiza 2017 Guide by Boardies®

Summer is almost upon us and do you know what that means, guys and gals? That means it’s time to invest in your one-way ticket (or back again, if you’ve got a job) to Ibiza, where the sun always shines, the party never stops and you’ll never have more excuse to wear a pair of Boardies 24/7. This season, there are more reasons than ever to visit the White Isle; here are a few of our favourites.

  1. HïIbiza

Yes, we all cried a thousand tears when Space closed its doors for the final time, and no, there’ll never be another club like it. But let’s not be too sentimental, times change and we have to move on. Taking its place on hallowed turf in Playa d’en Bossa is Hï Ibiza, which has secured not only the likes of Black Coffee (Saturdays), Armin van Buuren (Wednesdays), Kölsch (Thursdays), the mighty Eric Prydz(Tuesdays) and everyone’s favourite funtime Friday party, Glitterbox, but also promises to deliver production on a scale never before seen on Ibiza. The famed Terrace will become the Club, while the Disctoeca will become the Theatre, meaning you can expect brand spanking new décor, as well as an entirely new vibe. Hï has the potential to become one of the island’s biggest and best superclubs, so dry your eyes mate, and let’s dive in with an open mind.

  1. NobuIbiza Bay Hotel

Fancy yourselves a bit of laid-back VIP treatment, do ya? Want to live it up like the rich and famous? Well then, this is the place for you. The internationally-acclaimed Nobu brand is behind the biggest hotel opening on Ibiza this summer, and brace yourselves, it’s a scorcher. All of the 150+ rooms will have a sea view (they look out on to Talamanca beach), and there’ll be four of the finest restaurants onsite, including Nobu, naturally; Chambao, a chiringuito serving daytime delights; Peyotito, Mexican street food experts; and Celicioso Café, which specialises in healthy fare for those wanting to still fit in their Boardies after a week of living like a baller.

  1. RESISTANCE at Privilege

Privilege has unequivocally risen from the ashes this summer, and at the helm of its much-hyped revival is Ultra’s RESISTANCE, which is all set to reunite one of dance music’s most loved ever duos. Sasha & John Digweed (!!!!!!) have signed up for eight exclusive dates at the San Rafael club, during which we hope to experience some of their much missed magic behind the decks. Catch them at the opening party on 25 July and then for seven scintillating weeks afterwards. Mark our words, this will be one of the hottest tickets this summer.

  1. Pure Carl Cox at Privilege

Another biggie on the books at the newly souped-up Privilege is Carl Cox, who’s back with a bang and promising a techno party like the ones they used to throw in days of yore. There are only two dates confirmed so far – 11 July and 18 July, so snap up your tickets now and make sure you’re front row to see the big man in action. He’s roped in huge names like Joseph Capriati, tINI, Eats Everything, Nicole Moudaber, Cassy, The Martinez Brothers and Kerri Chandler for the ride, and line-ups don’t get much bigger than that.

  1. The Zoo Project Evolution

The Zoo Project has been the king of Saturdays for over 10 years, and while they’ll still be holding down the weekend spot all this summer, they’ve also branched out with a new Tuesday offering. There are more of the same style surprise guests (Apollonia played the opening), but there’s also a more diverse daytime agenda with market stalls, ecstatic dance (don’t get drunk) and a more laid-back musical vibe throughout. Benimussa Park is one of the best daytime venues on the island, so this one’s not to be missed.

  1. Tatel

If you’re coming to Ibiza for straight up luxury then the opening of Tatel will be right up your street. The brainchild of none other than Rafael Nadal, Pau Gasol and Enrique Iglesias (he can still be your hero), this place is all about Mediterranean fine dining. There are already outposts of the restaurant in Miami and Madrid, and with such celebrity behind it, expect much A-List attendance over summer. Come here to star spot, eat well and get a little tipsy.

  1. elrowat Amnesia

In 2016, elrow was very close to stealing Carl Cox’s thunder as the biggest night at Space – week in, week out, the queue would snake round the car park, and it was almost always a sure fire sell out. That’s probably because it’s equal parts silly as it is ridiculously good musically. So while you can expect confetti to rain down as you dance and inflatables to come launching through the air as you sidestep, you can also expect top tunes from the likes of Erick Morillo, Jackmaster and De La Swing. Opening night is 27 May, make sure you’re on the terrace.

  1. The Butcher

Another brick in the wall of the Entourage Group’s expansion throughout Europe, you’ll find The Butcher taking up prime space at Sir Joan, one of the island’s newest hotels that’s set to open in June. There’ll be big, fat, juicy burgers, oodles of Amsterdam cool and opening hours that’ll suit even the most hardcore of hedonists. Apparently its doors will be open all night, but maybe call ahead to find out.

  1. Disclosure at DC-10

The boys set DC-10 ablaze when they appeared at the infamous club last year, bringing a whole lot of controversy along with them (Disclosure, at DC-10? Purists weren’t happy). But such was the success of their events that this summer they’re back with a four-date mini-residency in July and August. Catch them on 21 and 28 July and 4 and 11 August, then get those elbows sharpened, this will be a busy one.

  1. Hot Since 82 at Pacha

The only change on the roster at Ibiza Town’s Pacha this year, Hot Since 82 has been signed up for the all-important Friday spot with his Labyrinth party. Billed to appear alongside him are Maya Jane Coles, Sasha, Eats Everything, Pete Tong, Carl Craig, and so many other big named nuggets it’s hard to keep track – this is one of THE line-ups of summer. Start the lunges now chicos, you’ll need to be in prime shape for this shindig.

  1. HostalLa Torre

This gem of a San Antonio spot was taken over by the Mambo Brothers crew a few years ago, and since then it’s become a staple on the hit list of anyone who’s on the hunt for spectacular sunsets, fantastic food and a laid-back vibe to ease the hangover from the night before. Keep your eyes peeled for special dates when superstar DJs make impromptu appearances (Kölsch was among them last year), which will send you well on the road to recovery.
