Boardies® Materials and Packaging - Featuring Jungle Shorts

MATERIALS & PACKAGING

ECONYL®

REGENERATED NYLON

Boardies® womens solid coloured swimwear and solid lining is made from ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon made from waste such as fishing nets from the oceans and aquaculture, fabric scraps from mills and carpets destined for landfill. ECONYL® yarn performs and feels the same as virgin nylon meaning we are recycling and recreating rather than sourcing new nylon.

REPREVE®

RECYCLED PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES

Boardies® mens collaborations and Boardies® womens printed swimwear is made from REPREVE®, a recycled fiber made from 100% recycled plastic, mainly consisting of used plastic water bottles. Unifi, who make REPREVE®, are not just finding a new life for recycled materials. Compared to making a virgin fiber, by making REPREVE®, they offset  the use of new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process.

TENCEL™ LYOCELL

BOARDIES SHIRTS

Boardies® shirts are made from Tencel™ Lyocell, a fiber made by transforming wood pulp into a cellulosic fibre. This sustainable fiber lowers the environmental impact through a closed loop production process, reusing 99% of chemicals. Tencel™ Lyocell is gentle on the skin and breathable for those hot summer days.

Boardies® Biodegradable Polybags

BIODEGRADABLE POLYBAGS

In Summer 2020, we transitioned to using biodegradable polybags to ship our mens, kids and womens swimwear; plus our shirts and pants.

By choosing this packaging over conventional plastic, the bags can be recycled and will decompose in landfill in a matter of months (rather than years) and minimizes the negative impact on the environment.
